Women's health is increasingly becoming an important topic—the implications of having a uterus (and associated hormones) can influence many aspects of our quality of life. From the start of menarche (menstruation), to becoming sexually active, to having babies and going through menopause; a woman’s body goes through immense changes. It can be hard to know how to support it throughout the different phases of our lives.

Jason De Sousa, RMT, graduated from the Everest College Massage Therapy program in 2014, and is a member of the RMTAO and CMTO. He integrates various massage techniques and stretching into treatments to benefit his client’s well-being.

He feels strongly that client care and communication are a top priority, and when paired with his understanding of the Human anatomy and body mechanics, it allows him to individualize each treatment to the goals and needs of each client.

Jason is driven to assist with rehabilitation and pain management and his friendly personality helps build a healthy client to therapist relationship, starting the client off on a strong path towards recovery and physical maintenance. Originally from Vancouver Island, Leo completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology at the University of Victoria before going on to complete his Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. Leo’s collaborative graduate research on the clinical implementation of exoskeleton technology was published in the peer-reviewed academic Journal of Disability and Rehabilitation.

Leo is passionate about treating athletes, desk-jockeys, post-surgical patients, and everyone in between. His experience playing provincial level soccer gives him a first-hand understanding of the unique training and rehabilitation process inherent in sport. He also draws on his strength and conditioning background to complement his Physiotherapy skills when devising his treatment plans.

Leo uses a detailed movement assessment to drive his treatment strategy, which consists of therapeutic exercise, hands-on techniques, and comprehensive education to guide patients as they work toward their goals.

Petar received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo, and graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. Over the course of his education Petar has completed his final undergraduate research seminar in ACL injury prevention, and graduate research in physical activity participation of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Since completion, he has continued his education and already completed Level 1 Manual Therapy, COMPASS (clinical communication development), and Sports Emergency First Responder Certificate. He is currently working towards furthering his education in manual therapy and sports physiotherapy.

Petar has a competitive sports background in soccer and karate, and is continuously involved in youth athletic development. His final internship at Toronto FC Academy has allowed him to learn at the highest level of sports rehabilitation and performance. Although his passion for sports physical therapy is unparalleled, Petar utilizes his understanding of exercise, manual therapy, and modalities to treat a wide variety of cases and conditions. He has experience working in post-surgical units, geriatrics, and is well equipped to treat and manage neurological and musculoskeletal injury. Petar’s work at Holland Bloorview Concussion Clinic has also allowed him to work with some of the field’s leading experts in paediatric concussion, and reach out to communities by providing concussion education for children, parents, and coaches.

Laura has been a member of the health and fitness industry for over 20 years. She graduated in 2004, receiving a Specialized Honors Degree in Kinesiology & Health Sciences. Laura has since been practicing as a Registered Kinesiologist, providing functional and dynamic rehabilitative exercise programs, focusing on core strength, posture, stability, balance, and general conditioning.

In 2016 Laura returned to school and received her Diploma in Manual Osteopathic Practice. This gentle hands-on therapy has allowed Laura to offer further treatment to her patients, while helping to decrease pain, improve range of motion, correct posture and improve overall body function. Laura has a strong focus on pelvic health, low back pain, neck pain, headaches, and bringing the body back to a neutral state, in which it can heal, repair and move. Dr. Mackey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. He then continued his education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto where he obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

Dr. Mackey’s introduction into chiropractic was facilitated by the numerous athletic injuries that he sustained while playing various competitive sports (volleyball, basketball, and running) throughout his adolescence. Throughout his athletic journey chiropractic treatment allowed him to continue competing at a high level and inspired a passion to pursue a career in the healthcare field.

Dr. Mackey holds a certification in Athletic Movement Assessment and has taken multiple courses that have enhanced his clinical toolset in areas such as rehabilitation and soft tissue techniques. His patient-specific and patient-centered treatment plans incorporate a variety of techniques including manual adjusting and mobilizations, soft tissue techniques, as well as active rehabilitation programs. Isha received her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto, and Bachelors with Honors in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Calgary. She holds certifications in Medical Therapeutic yoga and Level 1 Pelvic Health, and has a particular interest in combining aspects of all three to create a unique and holistic model of practice.

Isha’s passion for movement are expressed in various ways. From weight training in a gym setting, to cool and fluid yoga and meditation practices. Hiking in the mountains (Calgary girl!) to dancing in her living room: she loves practices that are both playful, and allow her to connect back to her body. She extends her personal care for embodied self-awareness to her patients she works and connects with.

Her journey of coaching began with a seamless transition from dance teaching into barre fitness class instruction at multiple studios in Toronto, and she then found her way to F45 Etobicoke Central, where she coaches and manages.

Because she grew up as a dancer, she finds inspiration in the idea of moving functionally to strengthen the whole body.
